Skip the Small Talk Brings Three Social Events to Chicago This Fall

Skip the Small Talk event in Chicago

Meeting new people in Chicago doesn’t always have to begin with small talk. Skip the Small Talk is bringing three facilitated social events to kibbitznest this fall, offering structured ways for Chicagoans to make new connections through conversation—and, for one evening, speed dating.

The series begins October 14 with a Millennial Speed-Dating event for ages 30–45, followed by Skip the Small Talk Nights on November 4 and December 2. All three events take place at kibbitznest in Lincoln Park and use conversation prompts and facilitated formats designed to make meeting someone new a little easier.

What to Expect

The October 14 event takes a dating-focused approach. Millennial Speed-Dating is designed for monogamous men interested in women and women interested in men, including trans and gender-nonconforming guests who connect with those identities. Participants move through facilitated conversations using question prompts rather than relying entirely on traditional speed-dating small talk.

The November 4 and December 2 events shift the focus from dating to conversation and friendship. Guests are guided through meaningful conversations using thoughtful prompts and a structured format, with participants deciding how much they want to share. Attendees can come alone or bring a friend.

Food and drinks are available separately at kibbitznest.
